GENERALS DESTRUCTION DERBY

Ladies and gentlemen, start your Generals!

With some top-quality C&C Generals and Zero Hour mods reaching maturity at the moment (such as Blitzkreig 2, Vietnam G.O and C&C All Stars to name but 3) July 2009 was the perfect time to dust off that copy of Generals or Zero Hour and win some prizes! So for our destruction derby we asked you to take a screenshot of the most carnage you possibly could fit in one screen and upload it.

And of course there were prizes, courtesy of EA:

  • First Place: Free EA Game, Yuriko Shirt, Generals Shirt and Signed RA3 Photo.
  • Second Place: Yuriko Shirt, Generals Shirt and Signed RA3 Photo.
  • Third Place: Yuriko Shirt and Generals Shirt.

HOW TO WIN
Points were awarded for mushroom clouds, toxic contamination, carnage and general awesomeness. Extra points were available for screenshots from a mod!

THE WINNERS
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have trawled through the 246 entries I received for our Generals Description Derby Competition and somehow managed to narrow it down to just three prize winners. So thank you to everyone who entered, but the time has come to begin the countdown.

At number 3: They Shall Burn Before Us submitted by Pathfinder

This screenshot is taken from mod Vietnam G.O which has some really nice explosions. Here we see a big ol' ball of flame lapping at helicopters surveying the carnage below.

In at number 2: Mass Destruction submitted by filip9118

The colours won me over in this entry; the toxic purple and nuclear fallout orange combine to destroy everything on screen. The helicopters weren't so lucky this time.

And the winner is: SCUDs Storm anyone? submitted by Mileiro!

The shear number of units being destroyed in this one screenshot is incredible; it's filled entirely with explosions and flying wheels. I bet it lagged a bit!

So congrats to all the winners. Don't forget that you can see every entry in our Generals Destruction Derby Gallery but I think the following deserve an honourable mention:
